A New Year
Wow, so it's the end of the year. It's been a mix of ups and downs, but we all got here. My husband and I were lucky enough to travel up north to Yeppoon for Christmas. It is a gorgeous spot with easy access to the crystal-clear waters of Great Keppel island. How lovely it would be to stay there for a month or three ... And write a book inspired by those surrounds and interspersed with languorous dips (and snorkelling) in that aqua ocean.
Sadly, reality beckons and a return to work is needed to bolster the coffers for such paradise!
It does however point to the analogy that the process of writing will likely be the same for many. Disciplined and task driven (like work) so that book content increases and the story takes on a life of its own (like our weekends/holidays) ... That's when we mould and undertake research so that it all comes together and is enhanced. Sometimes this process also requires being quite ruthless and cutting out sections so that it is less cumbersome and for readability.
So, in 2020, is there anything that has to be set aside to make us lighter and start the year in good form? It may be a temporary relinquishment, but one that can give us a boost! Be brave and just one step at a time will see us go forward. Arrivederci.
